Roma Source – Sharing of Understanding Rights & Citizenship in Europe
Roma SOURCE (Sharing of Understanding Rights and Citizenship in Europe) was a 2 year project co-funded by the European Union’s Fundamental Rights and Citizenship Programme. It ended in March 2013.
The Roma SOURCE project involved 8 organisationsfrom 6 European countries. Action Synergy was a partner in this project which was coordinated by Migration Yorkshire (Leeds City Council). The partnership was made up of regional and local governments, Roma-led NGOs (non-governmental organisations), a university and a private organisation.
What the project achieved
Roma SOURCE has combatted discrimination and exclusion of Roma, and improved understanding between Roma and mainstream communities.
The project included research across 6 countries, and actions in 4 key areas:
– children
– citizenship
– employment
– health
The project has produced a wide range of resources, including reports, good practice guides and case studies.
Roma SOURCE achieved inclusion in local areas, greater understanding and tangible policy change. The effects of the project went beyond the partner organisations, leaving a legacy of integration.
