The T-BRIDGES project is aiming to promote the cooperation between Europe and Africa in the field of youth and explore the potential of youth work in order to increase the employability of the young people in the field of tourism which is one of the most promising industries both in Europe and in Africa.
The consortium of the project is multi-actor, it has great experience in the field and it has complementary competencies. It is constituted from 6 partners from 5 countries (Greece, Italy, Romania, Cape Verde and Ghana). The partners from the partner countries are organizations that are willing to build their capacity to support youth exchanges and also to support the youth in their local community.
From Monday 11th of January 2016 to Friday 15th, Action Synergy had the pleasure to participate in the workshop organized in Mindelo in the island of São Vicente in Cabo Verde in the framework of the project T-BRIDGES. Our partners were the Academy of Entrepreneurship from Greece, Atelier Mar ONG from Cabo Verde, the International Youth Exchange Community from Ghana, the Asociatia Initiative si Proiecte pentru Tineret Imago Mundi from Romania and the Pegaso Università Telematica Online from Italy.

During these five days, delegates from the 5 countries had the chance to explore new formal or informal ways of learning on tourism, desirable skills mostly asked by employers, e-learning opportunities etc. Case studies on tourism were presented by Action Synergy’s delegates: Stefanos Vlachos gave a presentation on “the use of bicycles as a tool for the promotion of tourism” whereas Alexandros Diamantis – Balaskas gave some practical examples on how to take advantage of the 5 senses in order to promote local tourism by looking at the concrete case study of the city of Granada. Kostas gave a presentation on the e-learning course and the use of an e-learning platform: an example on how to introduce material from the thematics discussed in the project.
Distinguished experts presented on the fields of gastronomic tourism web tourism, experiential tourism, cultural tourism and young entrepreneurship. Other activities were also performed based in interaction and non-formal learning in the field of tourism. On-site activities were also organized which included visits to 3 potential experiential activities for tourism proposals, group work on experiential tourism following the field visit, field visit to rural tourism projects in the island of Santo Antão, a music tour in the lab of Jao Batista and a food lab.
Most importantly, all of us had the great opportunity to get to know each other, connect and to explore our cultures by active participation through music, dancing, food etc while learning! The next meeting of the project will be held in Ghana in September 2016!
